Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is made up of several kinds of habitats, lakes, canyons, rivers, and mountains. What makes Yellowstone National Park so exciting, however, is that it sits on top of the caldera of a volcano! The caldera is an enormous active volcano that has erupted in the past with great force. The Old Faithful Geyser is evidence of the volcanic activity in this amazing park. Yellowstone was established as the first national park in 1872. Hundreds of species of mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles live in this huge habitat, some of which are endangered or threatened. Grizzlies, wolves, and huge herds of bison and elk live in the park. The vast forests and grasslands also include unique species of plants.
