Sarah Marshik is happy planning other people's weddings, but she has no intention of planning her own. Instead, she's focused on turning her first house into the home she's always wanted for her and her son. Unfortunately, the only person for the job is Jesse Taylor, a sexy-as-sin man with a dark past. As tempting as Jesse is, Sarah's determined to resist him...even if he's too close for comfort every day.
The longer he's in her house, the more it seems he belongs there. Somehow the renovations are making room for the three of them—together. Is she really ready to prepare her own walk down the aisle? Because something tells her he deserves a second chance.

Wedding planner, flower shop owner, and single mom Sarah Marshik is uneasy when she learns that the man who is renovating her new home is an ex-con; she is shocked and doubly annoyed that she is attracted to him. Sexy, charming Jesse Taylor, younger brother of Mirabelle Island's sheriff, reminds her far too much of her nine-year-old son's late wealthy, bad-boy father, and she's not about to make the same mistake twice. But there's more to Jesse than Sarah knows, and she has her own demons to slay. Yet the more time the two spend together, the harder it is to resist the dangerous feelings growing between them. VERDICT A wary heroine who learns to trust and a guilt-ridden hero who finally forgives himself find healing and love in this warm, realistic story that touches on some serious issues. The next two installments of Brenna's popular series--Her Sure Thing and Redemption at Mirabelle--will be published in August and September, respectively. Brenna (The Moon That Night) is noted for her lively, heartwarming contemporary romances; she lives in Minneapolis.
