Lady Arianne Chambers is called "Cupid's Mistress" for her matchmaking prowess, but when Michael Rafferty hears the nickname, he assumes its origin lies in more salacious arenas. Such a rocky beginning doesn't lead to smooth sailing, particularly when the pair wind up on a diplomatic mission to America, with Arianne posing as Rafferty's wife to further his position as the head British representative stationed in Washington, D.C.
